Longarm Quilts, T-shirt Quilts, Stoles, and More!

Quilty As Charged is located in Staunton, VA.

Sandy Merritt has been quilting and doing handcrafts since she was a child. Her award-winning work has appeared in shows in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and South Carolina and was featured in the 2008 book The Quilter’s Catalog by Meg Cox.

Most of the quilts and sewing projects are made on two different sewing machines–a Bernina domestic machine, and an A-1 Longarm Quilting Machine. The longarm machine is on a table 12 feet long, which enables the quilter to work on larger quilts without worrying about the bulk or weight of the fabrics. Because it is so large, Sandy affectionately calls the longarm machine “Quiltzilla.

Sandy is involved in a number of community and charitable organizations. She is an avid bicyclist and handbell player, and has earned a black belt in taekwondo. In addition to quilting, she enjoys several other crafts, such as stained glass, rubber stamping, and counted cross-stitch.
